Lecture 1: Introduction to the Course

Welcome to the course!

Your first task is to peruse the site, examine the syllabus, and just generally become familiar with the course.

Here are few questions and answers that you might ask about this course:

How Do I Get Started?

Easy! You have to do two things. First, check your e-mail on a daily basis! I will send out course mails almost every day with notes, assignments, pop-quizzes, announcements, etc.

Second, go to the website and surf around. Get to know the site, bookmark it, read the syllabus, and check out the calendar.

Do I need a Book?

Nope, all is online. You will need a printer and 3-ring binder to keep track of everything though!

Is this course easy?

No. It will take work and you must stay current with the course. If you are not working adequately by midterm, I will drop you.

All in all, your job is to stay current with the material. While this is an online course, we cannot get behind and try to do it all at once at the end of the semester. I simply cannot allow that to happen.

Working From Home?

If you plan on working from home, you will need to download and install the Macromedia Authorware Web Player. This player will allow you to interact with the course and the course materials. A link to this player is offered on the course Tools Page.

Tips for Success

On each lesson, there is a Lesson Plan. Print this and use it to direct your readings and study efforts. In addition, you will find that I will direct you to the places that are important on a regular basis. Hence, pay attention to the daily e-mails!
