Dr. Michael Bishku- Biography Michael B. Bishku received his doctorate in History and Middle Eastern Studies at New York University in 1981. Before coming to Augusta State University in 1996, he taught at the University of North Florida (1993-1996); the University of Nebraska at Kearney (1987-1993); Washington and Lee University (1986-1987); Edison Community College in Fort Myers, FL (1981-1986); and Ramses College for Girls (1979-1980). Dr. Bishku is a past President of the Association of Third World Studies (1995-1996) and has been a member of the Board of Directors of the American Council for the Study of Islamic Societies since 1992. Also, he has served as the Associate Editor (Middle East) for the Journal of Third World Studies since 1993. Dr. Bishku has received Fulbright grants to do research in Turkey, Pakistan, Uzbekistan, Morocco and Tunisia. and has published numerous articles on the modern Islamic world in such subjects as nationalism, water and oil politics, a foreign relations. |
