Elaine Lacy


Elaine Lacy is Associate Professor of History at the University of South Carolina Aiken. Her teaching and research focus is Latin America (Mexico in particular), and Latinos in the U.S. Before assuming her position at USC Aiken Dr. Lacy was a research analyst at the Interamerican Development Bank in Washington, D.C., and a
Research Affiliate at El Colegio de Mexico. She received her Ph.D. from Arizona State University in 1990.

Dr. Lacy's papers and publications demonstrate her keen interest in Latin American politics and culture, and she is currently writing a book on cultural politics and public commemorations in 1920s Mexico. A second major research focus is Latinos in the United States. Dr. Lacy has penned papers, articles, and book reviews on the latter topic, and is currently engaged in a research project on the characteristics and cultural practices of recent Hispanic/Latino immigrants to South Carolina.
