| Robert Kennedy, a former senior official in the U.S. Department of Defense, has served as director of the George C. Marshall European Center for Security Studies in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany, Deputy Commandant of the NATO Defense College, Rome, Italy, Dwight D. Eisenhower Professor of National Security Studies and senior researcher at the Strategic Studies Institute, U.S. Army War College, and Foreign Affairs Officer with the U.S. Arms Control and Disarmament Agency. He also has served as an enlisted man in the Army and command pilot on active duty with the U.S. Air Force and later with the reserve forces (1958-1986). He is currently a professor and one of the founding members of the Sam Nunn School of International Affairs, Georgia Institute of Technology.
Professor Kennedy also has been a Fulbright Scholar in Peru and a Senior Fellow at the Atlantic Council of the United States. He holds an M.A. and Ph.D. in Political Science from Georgetown University and a B.S. from the United States Air Force Academy. He is recipient of the Joint Distinquished Civilian Service Award from the Chairman, U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff and a Doctorate Honoris Cause from the Bulgarian National Defense College. He has been elected a permanent member of the Academy of Security, Defense, and Law Enforcement, Russian Federation with the title of Professor, He also has been awarded the title of Commander by the President of Romania for his efforts in helping Romania meet the requirements for NATO membership. Professor Kennedy has served on the Chairman, Joint Chiefs of Staff Executive Committee for the accrediting of joint military education and as an Academic Associate of the Atlantic Council of the U.S. He is also a member of the International Institute for Strategic Studies, the International Studies Association, the Southern Center for International Studies, and the Atlanta Council on International Relations. He has lectured and published widely and has served as a consultant in the fields of international security and defense affairs. Professor Kennedy is married to Vevonna Marie Clark. They have two married sons, Shaun and Teague. |
