Igor Kuzmin will be Visiting Fulbright Scholar-in-Residence at Augusta State University for the Spring semester 2005. He is Senior Lecturer and Associate Professor of Historical and Political Sciences at the Institute of International Educational Programs, Saint-Petersburg State Technical University where he teaches, in Russian and in English, courses on Political Science, History of Russia, Translation Techniques (English-Russian, Russian-English), Contemporary Russia, Saint-Petersburg of the Romanovs, Government and Politics of the Soviet Union and Modern Russia.

In 1971 he graduated with honors from the Oriental Department of Leningrad University, with a B.A. and M.A. in the history of China, and the following year studied at Nanyang University, Republic of Singapore. In 1974 he received a Ph.D. from the Oriental Department of Leningrad University with a thesis on modern Chinese ideology. In 1995 he was awarded a Soros Foundation Fellowship and earned a second M.A., in Political Science, the Central European University of Budapest, Hungary.
