Faculty Policies Committee

November 12, 2001

Present: Roxann Bustos (secretary), Barbara Coleman, Beth Fanning, Bill Dodd, Peggy Ruth Geren, Paul Harris (chair), Andy Hauger, Donna Hobbs, Wayne Mixon, Jana Sandarg, Bruce Saul, Jonathan Leightner (guest)

The minutes of the November 5 meeting were corrected and approved.

1. Jonathan Leightner explained the background and rationale for the Fine Arts addendum to the Intellectual Properties Policy. He responded to questions from FPC committee members. A motion was made, seconded, and passed to send the addendum back to the Intellectual Properties Committee with FPC feedback.

2. Faculty Marshall: Bruce Saul will check on projected retirement dates for the two potential candidates.

3. Faculty Secretary: Paul Harris is waiting to hear back from Fred Barnebei on the possibility of using a staff person. It was noted that it’s unlikely in the current financial situation that any department chairman is going to be able to give a faculty member release time to do it.

4. Promotion & Tenure Guidelines: Andy Hauger and Paul Harris responded to the pending faculty questions.

5. Meeting with the President: The major item of discussion was the budget.
