October 22, 2001

Bustos (secretary), Barbara Coleman, Bill Dodd, Jim Garvey, Peggy Ruth Geren,
Paul Harris (chair), Andy Hauger, Wayne Mixon, Jana Sandarg, Bruce Saul
The minutes of the October15 meeting were approved.
- Semester
Schedule – Bill Dodd distributed calendars and pointed out that it
would be very difficult to make the Wednesday before Thanksgiving a
vacation day. He will explain
to the inquiring faculty member.
- Intellectual
Property/Fine Arts – Paul Harris will forward the memo from Jonathan
Leightner to Angela Morgan for her comments.
- “Preparing
for the New Wave of Faculty” memo from Dr. Bompart – Committee
members feel departments are already dealing with this as much as possible.
- Faculty
Elections – Letter to Dean Freeman was approved.
- Promotion
and Tenure – We will discuss the memo sent to Charlotte Price last
year at the next meeting.
- Faculty
Secretary – Paul will talk to Melissa Williams about the possibility
of her serving.
- Next
Faculty meeting – Peggy Ruth Geren will email the wording of the
College of Education Curriculum Committee change and, if committee members
have no changes, it will be submitted to University Council.
- New
Business
· Paul
Harris has received inquiries from faculty members about the time of FPC
meetings and the possibility of attending. He will tell them they are welcome.
· Bill
Dodd said Keith Luoma will look at the exam schedule to see if there is any
possibility of compressing it to three days.
