3:00 p.m.

Present:  Roxann Bustos (secretary), Barbara Coleman, Bill Dodd, Beth Fanning, Jim Garvey, Cliff Gardiner (guest), Peggy Ruth Geren, Paul Harris (chair), Andy Hauger, Donna Hobbs, Wayne Mixon, Bruce Saul

Minutes of the January 28 meeting were approved.

1.              Cliff Gardiner, Chair of the Employee Benefits Committee reported on issues which have arisen during the course of the committee’s investigation of the difference in sick leave retirement benefits for TRS vs. ORP participants.  Memos exchanged with Don O’Neal, Director of Personnel Services,  (which Cliff distributed prior to the meeting) provided data on employer contributions to the two programs over the past ten years which merit further study.  Paul Harris will ask President Bloodworth to meet with us next Monday to discuss this.

2.              Elections: Bruce Saul said the memo on elections should go out by March 11 with a primary to be scheduled for March 26/27 and the general election on April 2/3, leaving time for a possible runoff before the last FPC meeting of the year on April 29.  The Elections Committee was reminded of our request that the ballot be clarified.  Bruce asked if absentee ballots would be accepted.  LeeAnn Caldwell had told him last year this could not be done; he will check with her to see why not.

3.              Summer pay:   There probably will not be changes in pay this summer, but very small classes will likely be cut.  FPC needs to be vigilant for possible future changes.  Paul will mention our concerns to the President.

4.              ASU email server:  Andy Hauger said a faculty member mentioned experiencing problems with email lately.  Barbara Coleman said the switch to Campus Pipeline may fix this.

The meeting adjourned at 4:10 P.M.
