Minutes of the March 4 and March 11 meetings were approved.

1.              Follow up on Employee Benefits Committee report:  Barbara Coleman will prepare a written charge for approval by the FPC to send to the Employee Benefits Committee.  This will include:

a.     requesting EBC to continue their research to find out what new ASU employees have been told about their retirement plan choices from 1991to the present;

b.     finding out about the BOR ORP Committee and the development of policies relating to TRS and ORP;

c.     contacting the HR person at Valdosta State to find out what their new employees are told;

d.     determining what should be added to the ASU information packet if it does not appear to be complete.

Paul will send Cliff Gardiner’s memo regarding the addition of Vanguard and Fidelity to the list of investment companies approved to offer 403(b) and 457(b) retirement accounts to ASU employees to University Council.

2.        Campus Police in classrooms: Paul asked Jasper Cooke what the policy is and was told that Public Safety officers currently try to contact students before or after class, entering classrooms only on rare occasions.  Bill Dodd suggested that the officer should speak to the faculty member first, before entering the class.  Paul will suggest this to Jasper.

3.              Elections: Bruce Saul reported that corrections have been made to the sample ballot that was sent out.  If the corrected ballots have not already been printed, Bruce will have them switch the order of Part A and Part B, to help make it clear that selections for at large positions may come from any of the colleges.

The two vacancies on University Council have been  filled.

Next time we will look at the Student Email Policy, the Univesity System of Maryland survey on part-time faculty salaries, Cathy Tugmon’s memo, and Bill Dodd’s Distance Learning Committee report.

The meeting adjourned at 4:30 P.M.
