1. Discussion with Employee Benefits Committee Chair, Dr. Peter Basciano

The committee reviewed a recent survey and other activities to date by the FPC concerning employee benefits. Two foci were orientation sessions for new faculty and communication of requirements and options for faculty soon to retire. Another concern was communication from ASU to other schools in the University System of Georgia concerning the differences in retirement benefits between the available retirement plans. The FPC asks that Employee Benefits examine these concerns and look at options for resolving them.

2. Cullum / Lyceum Issue

The request to add language to the faculty manual encouraging cooperation between Cullum and Lyceum committees on one event per year has been dropped.

3. Fall Break

A request has been forwarded for a break of 1-2 days during Fall Semester, at a point around midterms. Consideration on this topic has been delayed until the effectiveness of the newly instituted Spring Break has been examined.

4. Sexual Harassment Policy recommendation – discussion

There were four recommendations made in a letter from Ray Whiting to the FPC. The Sexual/Personal Harassment Committee has been working toward a new policy relating to the letter. The policy has been provided to the FPC, which will review it in depth in two weeks. (MLK holiday is next Monday.)  The committee will also consider a letter recommending a name change for the Sexual/Personal Harassment Committee.

5. Campus Email Policy

This has gone to Academic Affairs and returned. It will be worked on in three weeks.

6. Parking Issues

A swap of parking spaces to place more faculty parking on the western side of campus has been completed. There is a concern that students are not being sufficiently ticketed to keep the changed slots available for faculty. Jasper Cooke responds that ticketing is being done.
