OLD BUSINESS
1. Fall Break –
The FPC continued to discuss an option for providing a Fall Break by changing the timing of final exams. Katherine Sweeney presented a detailed calendar through 2007, and provided detail on the rearrangement of class slots that will be necessary. Sweeney will continue to develop the option. The committee will pursue approval of the change through President Bloodworth and the President’s Advisory Council, to conclude before April 1 when the Fall 2004 schedule will be sent for publication.
2. Cullum Committee –
Jeff Heck redistributed the recommendations of the Cullum Ad Hoc Committee from last year. The 2900 level class has been approved, but there are items still to implement. The FPC will invite proposals in Spring 2004 for the 2006 Cullum Series.
3. New Faculty
Mentoring –
Welcome CD – Katherine Sweeney provided a sample of the CD product created for Admissions to orient new students. Information Technology Services will work with the FPC to produce an equivalent effort for new faculty.
New Faculty Photos – Photos of new faculty have been posted on the campus website.

The Louis K. Bell Alumni Award plaque and a newly purchased plaque for additional names should reach Reese Library in the next week. Jeff Heck will notify Bill Reese when it arrives.
5. Peaceful Assembly
/ Free Speech –
The FPC recently proposed text to replace existing peaceful assembly and free speech guidelines published in the student manual. Revisions offered by Vice President for Business and Student Services Fred Barnabei, Dean of Students Joyce Jones and Director of Public Safety Jasper Cooke have been received and will be considered at the next FPC meeting on January 12, 2004.
