Faculty Policies Committee Minutes

Marc Miller called the meeting to order at
Marc led a general discussion concerning updates to the ASU Faculty Manual. He has divided the updates to the manual into three rounds. Round One changes center around miscellaneous cosmetic issues, i.e., layout and numbering. These changes were discussed in detail and approved by the group unanimously. Round Two will be the subject of discussion at the next meeting and involves separating policies from procedures in the manual. Round Three will be discussed after that and concerns the rearrangement of particular sections of the manual for flow.
Outstanding Faculty Member Award- Peggy Ruth Geren reported that the committee will not seek to modify the selection process until after this year’s recipient is chosen.
Course Evaluation-Janice Williams Whiting reported that a pdf of the document has been delivered to the Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs’ office for mass reproduction.
Marc reported that Jeff Heck has agreed to stay on as faculty secretary for another year.
Cullum Lecture Series-Jana Sandarg asked about the turnaround time she should allow for Cullum 2007 proposals. The group agreed that two weeks was appropriate. Jana will send an email call for proposals.
