Faculty Policies Committee Minutes

Members present: (03-05) Marc Miller, Katherine Sweeney, Wendy Turner, Janice Williams Whiting; (04-06) Peggy Ruth Geren, Pam Hayward, Wayne Mixon, Jana Sandarg, Bruce Saul,

Barry Thompson; (05-07) Andy Hauger, Pam Jackson, Rick Pukis, Bob Reeves, Mike Searles

•  Marc Miller called the meeting to order at 3:05 pm and welcomed new members.

•  The committee unanimously approved minutes from 11 April 05.

•  Wendy Turner asked if she could address everyone about assignments for the upcoming Committee on Committees. She requested two new members help current members, Jana Sandarg, Barry Thompson and Peggy Ruth Geren. The two new members will be Rick Pukis and Mike Searles. Additionally, Andy Hauger and Wendy Turner will help the group at a meeting called for 13 May.

•  Marc Miller recognized and thanked the group rotating off of the committee: Tom Crute, Katherine Sweeney, Donna Wear, Wendy Turner and Janice Williams Whiting. Marc Miller was thanked for his exemplary service and presented with a gift from the 04-05 committee.

•  Marc Miller asked for nominations for FPC Secretary for the 05-06 committee. Bruce Saul agreed to serve and was approved unanimously.

•  Marc Miller reviewed the remaining agenda item, the University Promotion and Tenure Committee composition. He circulated and discussed the current position statement and referred it to the new committee for the next academic year.

•  The committee was asked to nominate a new Chair for the next term. Peggy Ruth Geren was nominated and approved unanimously.

•  Peggy Ruth Geren took charge of the committee and asked that we plan to meet in the fall on the Monday, 29 August, at 3pm. She requested emails be sent to her about any topics or concerns that we should address in the next (05-06) session of the FPC.

•  The meeting was adjourned at 3:45 P.M.
