Faculty Policies Committee Minutes

17 October 2005

Members present: Pam Hayward, Donna Hobbs, Pam Jackson, Wayne Mixon, Rick Pukis, Bob Reeves, Jana Sandarg, Bruce Saul, Mike Searles, Barry Thompson, Cathy Tugmon

•  Bruce Saul called the meeting to order at 3:00 pm. Peggy Ruth had a travel delay in returning from a weekend trip.

•  The committee unanimously approved minutes from 10 October 05.

•  Katherine Sweeney visited to answer questions about student retention. The FPC discussed many aspects of low retention at ASU and possible solutions. The group was reminded of the Phi Kappa Phi event that will cover student retention concerns on 20 October.

•  Rick Pukis has contacted Cathy Barner at ITS about streamlining the campus committee selection process. He also distributed information about the FileMaker software which may help us automate that process. The FPC will meet with an ITS representative soon.

•  Jana Sandarg has scheduled a meeting of her student activities subcommittee to discuss campus issues.

•  Pam Hayward relayed some concerns about faculty parking. The FPC will contact the physical plant to see if the new lot will improve the situation.

•  Bruce Saul shared a letter from Dr. Bloodworth requesting the appointment of a faculty member to the Fee Review Committee. The volunteer was Bruce Saul.

•  The meeting was adjourned at 4:15pm.
