Faculty Policies Committee Minutes

November 3, 2008

Members present: Ted Atkinson, Rob Bledsoe, Tom Crute, Wally Evans, Wayne Mixon, Bruce Saul, Jana Sandarg, Mike Searles, Robert Smalley, Steve Weis.

1) Tom called the FPC Committee to order at 2:30pm.

2) Dr. Sullivan visited the FPC to discuss the ASU Study Abroad Program (SABR). He listened to the concerns of the committee and everyone agreed that the program was a great success. He assured the FPC that all classes taught in the SABR are under the direct control of the Departments. The SABR has no classes and never controls the class content; it is faculty driven. Some of the concerns the FPC received were from new faculty. The committee agreed to formulate some training directives and work with Dr. Sullivan to provide a step by step handout for those faculty wishing to teach an SABR class. The FPC thanks Dr. Sullivan for his time, efforts, and leadership.

3)  Minutes from 27October were approved. They will be posted soon.

4) All other items will be moved to the meeting on 10Nov08.
