Learning Support Attempts |
|
| What counts as an "attempt" in Learning Support classes? | Each Learning Support course in which you earn a grade of "S", "U", or "IP" counts as an attempt. |
| How many attempts do I have to complete an area of Learning Support? | You have a maximum of three attempts to complete each area of
Learning Support.
This does not mean that you have, for example, three attempts to complete ENGL 0097 and then another three to complete ENGL 0099. You have three attempts--total--to complete Developmental English. If you are required to take a class at the 0096 or 0097 level, then you only have two attempts to pass it. You will need your third attempt for the 0099 level. |
| If I get an "S" in a class does it count as one of my attempts? | Yes. See the first question above. |
| If I withdraw with a "W" does it count as an attempt? | No--a "W" is the only grade that does not count as an attempt. |
|
Learning Support Dismissal |
|
| What happens if I do not pass my 0096 or 0097 level class on the second attempt? | You will be put on Learning Support Dismissal for three years. You may reapply for admission to Augusta State University at the end of the three year period. |
| What happens if I do not complete an area of Learning Support within three attempts? | You will be put on Learning Support Dismissal for three years. You may reapply for admission to Augusta State University at the end of the three year period. |
| If I am put on Learning Support Dismissal, can I attend another college or university? | Students on Learning Support Dismissal are not eligible to attend any other institution within the University System of Georgia. However, students may attend non-University System of Georgia schools. |
| Withdrawals | |
| What happens if I withdraw with a "W" from one of my Learning Support Classes? | You will be automatically withdrawn from all of your regular-credit classes. However, you will be allowed to remain in your other Learning Support classes and in ASUO 1000 (provided you were required to take it.) On the positive side, the class in which you receive a "W" does not count as one of your Learning Support attempts. |
| What is the deadline for receiving a "W"? | The deadline for receiving a "W" is normally the published midterm date for the semester. |
| Can I ever receive a "W" after the midterm date? | Yes, but two conditions must be met. First, your reason for withdrawing must be non-academic. Second, you must be passing the class at the point of withdrawal. |
|
Miscellaneous |
|
| What is the "20 hour rule"? | This rule requires you to complete all Learning Support classes by the time you have accumulated 20 semester hours of regular academic credit. If you fail to do so, you will be allowed to enroll only in Learning Support classes until you complete your Learning Support requirements. |
