- Why have I been placed on Learning Support Dismissal?
You have been placed on Learning Support Dismissal for one of the following reasons:
- You did not complete an area of Learning Support (English, math, or reading) within three attempts, or:
- You did not complete the non-exit level (0096/0097) course in an area of Learning Support in two attempts.
Please note that a course in which you earn any grade other than a "W" counts as an attempt. (In other words, courses with grades of "S", "U", or "IP" count in your attempts.)
- What are the consequences of being placed on Learning Support Dismissal?
The Board of Regents requires us to suspend you from Augusta State University for three years. During this time you are also ineligible for admission at all other schools within the University System of Georgia. (However, you may attend a non-system school provided you meet its admission requirements.)
- Can I appeal for an additional attempt?
The Department of Learning Support automatically reviews the records of those students who have been placed on dismissal and in some cases an additional attempt is granted.
To be eligible, a student must:
- be at the exit-level (ENGL/MATH/READ 0099),
- have earned of grade of "IP" in the area that led to dismissal, and
- have reached the allowable number of attempts in only one area.
In addition, other factors relevant to a student's prospects for success may be considered in deciding the appeal.
**This appeal process is automatic--you do not need to contact the department to initiate it. If you are granted an extra attempt you will be notified by mail.
