Letter from the Director

Augusta State University will consolidate with Georgia Health Sciences University in 2013. The move, recommended in January 2012 by the University System of Georgia Board of Regents, draws on the strengths of two historic universities to create an even greater, new comprehensive research university.

Even though our combined student body will be close to 10,000, our students will continue to benefit from the hands-on learning and faculty mentoring that defines ASU. We will continue to be a university focused on student success; however, as a consolidated institution, we will be able to offer more academic programs, more resources and facilities, and a pipeline into more graduate programs.

Although the name has yet to be determined, future students will be graduating from a new university with a national reputation and a statewide imprint--one that will continue to grow to provide exceptional educational experiences for our students.
