Transfer Student Admissions Requirements

An applicant is considered a transfer student if he or she has previously attended a regionally accredited institution and is not classified as a Life Enrichment student.

Requirements:

For regular admission, a minimum overall transfer GPA* of 2.0 is required for all transfer students. All transfer applicants must submit the following:

  • Official transcripts mailed from all colleges attended (use the Official Transcript Request form, if necessary)
  • Any further documents as requested by the ASU Office of Admissions.

For regular admission, transfer students are divided into three categories as listed below:

  1. Earned fewer than 30 transferable semester hours**:
    a) Must meet prevailing freshman admission requirements.
    b) If overall transfer GPA* is less than 2.0, student is admitted to ASU on probation.
  2. Earned 30 or more transferable semester hours**, but lacking College Composition I, AND either College Algebra or Introduction to Mathematical Modeling:
    a) Must submit SAT score of at least 500 Critical Reading or take COMPASS English and Reading. All students will take COMPASS Math if lacking College Algebra or Introduction to Mathematical Modeling.
    b) If overall transfer GPA* is less than 2.0, student is admitted to ASU on probation.
  3. Earned 60 or more transferable semester hours**:
    a) Must have at least an overall transfer GPA* of 2.0
    b) Those with less than an overall transfer GPA of 2.0 are reviewed by the Admissions Appeals Committee for probationary acceptance after completing an admissions interview.

*Overall transfer GPA is the TOTAL grade point average from ALL attempted college work.

**Transferable semester hours are the total hours which will transfer to Augusta State University.
