To collect more information on the majors you are interested in, visit the academic departments offering those majors. You may
want to set up an appointment for an informational interview within the department. To locate the departments, refer to
ASU Majors, listed in the EXPLORE section, and the 'Where to Find It'
map, which lists contact numbers. Prior to your departmental visits, you might want to review the Career Spotlights on the departments you plan to visit.
To make the most of these contacts, prepare a
list of questions to ask departmental representatives. To help get you started, consider the following sample questions:
- What course(s) should a student take as an introduction to this major?
- What academic supports or activities are available for students pursuing a major in this department?
- What career opportunities are there for graduates with this major?
Make appointments in each of the departments that offer the majors
you are considering.
Remember to be sensitive to busy times on the calendar,
such as early registration, when scheduling your appointments. |
As you speak with faculty representing the majors
you are interested in, take notes on what you discuss.
- Which departments did you visit? Who did you meet?
- Which majors did you discuss?
- What did you learn?
