You should now have selected a field of interest to investigate in depth. As you earn from thirty to thirty-nine class credit hours,
you should begin a period of confirming your selected educational goals. With a specific target major in mind, you are able to
make more informed choices as you select classes.
Review this section (blue) and complete your planning strategy using the Semester Planning Calendars. The 'Where to Find It' map has key reference locations and phone numbers for this section. You may find it useful to retrace your steps through previous activities with your selected goals in mind. With your new perspective, you may discover a sense of comfort and familiarity as you review your intended major's Career Spotlights tape. A return visit to the Counseling Center and the Career Center could help you to confirm your choice. All of these activities help you to gather more specific information, refine your choice, and to identify questions or areas to pursue in your confirmation process. As you reach the end of this section, you should be ready to declare your major. In working through this section, you may discover that your selection is not an appropriate match for you. In this event, you would then need to recycle through the decision making steps to make another selection. Confirming your selection prepares you for an easier transition to your major by expanding your knowledge and affirming your commitment.
