Advising Support from UMAC |
In addition to completing the core curriculum requirements, major
requirements, and minor requirements, each student under the semester catalog
must also satisfy the following:
Legislative Requirements
All students must demonstrate
knowledge of United States History, Georgia History, the United States
Constitution, and the Georgia Constitution as required by
Physical Education
All students pursuing a baccalaureate degree must complete three courses in Physical Education. The requirement consists of the 3 hour Wellness course (WELL 1000), a 1 hour aquatics course (WELL 14_ _), and a 1 hour activity course (WELL _ _ _ _) selected from the physical education curriculum. Students may opt to replace the aquatics course with another activity course provided a swimming proficiency exam is passed. (ASU Nursing students may satisfy the WELL1000 requirement within their degree program.)
For students under the semester catalog, there are no waivers for the PE requirements. Students who are physically unable to participate in regular WELL courses will be allowed to complete their PE requirement with specially adapted courses.
Regents' Test
All undergraduates must demonstrate proficiency in reading and writing skills by passing both parts of the Regents’ Test. The exam is administered each term and students are notified when they must take the test (usually after completing ENGL1102/1114 or after earning 30 semester hours.) Students who fail to take the test at this time will not be allowed to register for classes until they have signed up for the Regents’ Test.
Students who fail one or both parts of the Regents’ Test will be required to sign up for ENGL1101 or 1102 if they have not satisfactorily completed these courses or ENGL0510 and/or 0520 if they have completed these courses (students who have earned 75 hours of credit or more must take ENGL0510 and/or 0520 whether or not they have completed ENGL1101 or 1102).
Students required to take ENGL1101, 1102, 0510, and/or 0520 may not take an overload or withdraw from class. Students withdrawing from or being withdrawn from these classes will be prohibited from taking the Regents’ Test that term and will be ineligible to register for the following term.
Appeals of the requirement to remediate should be made in writing to the Vice President for Academic Affairs.
