What is a transient student?
A transient student is a degree
candidate at another institution ("home institution") who is granted
the privilege of temporary registration at
How does a transient student register for classes at ASU?
Just prior to each registration
period, special registration packets are available in Admissions and the
Center. A student may also use Adobe Acrobat
to print a Registration Worksheet as
PDF. The course
schedule booklets are available near the beginning of registration in Student
Records (Payne Hall, first floor) and on campus network computers. (Updated
open class listings are also posted in the Center.) Transient students
should seek advising assistance in the department(s) offering the course(s) in
which they wish to enroll. After selecting courses and establishing necessary
prerequisites on-line, they then follow the registration procedure outlined in Q&A: How Do I Register?
from the Center.

When may transient students register for classes?
Transients register as a category, not by class year. Consult the published campus schedule for the day and time for 'transient' registration.
What courses will be accepted by a transient's home institution?
To find out how courses taken as a transient at ASU will apply toward a degree program, transient students should consult with an advisor at their home institution.
What about Financial Aid?
To receive Financial Aid to attend ASU, transient students must have previously made arrangements with the Financial Aid Office at their home institution. If you are to receive financial aid, they should be prepared to pay fees by the due date and be reimbursed by their home institution after the term has begun.
How are ASU grades reported to the home institution?
As a courtesy to transient students, Augusta State University Student Records automatically reports their grades to the home institution. Any holds on a student's record must be cleared before grades can be released.
How may a transient continue at ASU?

What about ID cards, parking permits, and books?
All students should have an ASU ID
made when beginning at ASU. After paying fees, students should take the receipt
and a photo ID by the Student Activities Office (Washington Hall, second
floor). This permanent card must be validated for each term of enrollment. The

It is often advisable to purchase textbooks after classes have begun. The ASU Bookstore (Washington Hall, first floor) has extended hours on the first two days of each term. A used book exchange (Washington Hall lobby) is operated at various times during the first several days of classes (See posted hours).
