Advising Reminders

§         Students may register/add/drop SP2000 courses via ASTRO by using a touch tone phone to call (706) 667-4737 according to the SP2000 Priority Registration Schedule. (Student athletes and Honors Program students have earlier on campus opportunities.)

§         Students will still need to identify themselves to ASTRO by entering their student number and PIN that initially is their birthdate (mm-dd-yy). Students whose departments require SP2000 Term PINs, will need to use this additional identifier.

§         Students with CPC holds or RTP deficiencies must register at Student Records (see Course Schedule Book for on campus starting times).

§         All areas involved in SP2000 Priority Registration follow these minimum support hours Nov 15-19: 8:00am-4:30pm with night hours until 6:00pm on Wed, Nov 17 and Thu, Nov 18.

§         Verify info on-line before advising or referring to another area.

§         All registration holds must be satisfied before a student attempts to register for any class. Check these on Banner (SOAHOLD).

§         Financial holds must be cleared on Banner by the responsible department. Appropriate staffing is required during registration to support the clearing of such holds (8:00am-4:30pm, with hours extended Wed Nov 17 & Thu Nov 18 until 6:00pm).

§         Completing an ASTRO worksheet helps a student collect & organize key registration information.

§         If a student encounters an issue with one course on ASTRO, the student should register for his/her remaining schedule on ASTRO and then follow up as needed on the particular course.

§         If a student needs an instructor's permission to take a specific course, to by-pass a prerequisite, or to take a closed class, then the student must obtain that instructor's permission on-line (check departmental procedure) before registering for that course on ASTRO (after student's date & time).

§         To be considered full time, an undergraduate needs 12 credit hours. However, undergraduates traditionally need to earn 15-18 credit hours per term for timely graduation.

§         To overload, a student registers a basic schedule on ASTRO, then takes an ASU Permission Slip with the advisor's signature to Student Records and registers for the "overload" course.

§         Course letters XX denote an honors class. Refer Honors Program inquiries to Dr. Beth Fanning ( LLC, BH, 737-1500).

§         Non-degree seeking students (transients, post-bacs, post-grad, audit) should seek advising support in the department(s) offering the course(s) for which they wish to enroll.

§         Students should confirm their registration on ASTRO and make corrections as needed. Students should check ASTRO for amount due and clear any balance by Wed Dec 8, the last day of classes. (Encouraged students to pay for their classes when they register, as failure to remember the Dec 8 deadline results in loss of their classes.)

§         Students may pay by credit card (Visa, MasterCard, Discover) on ASTRO. To pay by cash, check, money order, or to obtain a printed receipt, see the Business Office, Fanning Hall.

§         If a student needs a printed bill, see Student Records, Payne Hall.

§         Check advising resources at http://www.aug.edu/advisingedge/

Spring 2000 New Students

§         New Student Orientation for SP2000 is on Wed Dec 15. (Registration this date is restricted to OARS participants.) The program begins promptly at 10:00AM in PAT, with participants escorted to advising by 11:00AM. Depending on departmental loads and personal preparation, most should complete by 2:00 PM.

§         New Spring 2000 non-degree seeking students register Jan 5-7 by type/class.
