STARS PROGRAM
Alumni Relations and Admissions Office seek your help in launching new program

High school students making their college selection are often faced with hundreds of mailings, e-mails, personal calls and Web sites to explore. The task of making that all-important decision can be overwhelming. Because they have so much to consider when choosing a college or university, prospective students and parents want to know everything about a university, from academic offerings, campus life, costs, and about the town where they will be attending school.

Do you remember when these questions were running through your head? Did you ever wish you could talk to someone who had attended ASU/AC to find out what it would be like? Thanks to a new program being implemented by the Office of Admissions, in conjunction with the Office of Development and Alumni Relations, many prospective students will be able to hear firsthand how Augusta State is a remarkable place to receive a top notch education. Your input and participation in spreading the good word about Augusta State University is needed. We would like you to share your Jaguar pride with our prospective students by serving as a member of STARS (Success Through Alumni Recruiting Students). This volunteer opportunity means that you assist the Office of Admissions by:

    • Hosting Admissions Receptions at your home or attending receptions in your area

    • Attending college fairs in your area

    • E-mailing or call prospective and accepted applicants, welcoming them to the ASU family

    • Identifying "Hot Prospects" by informing admissions of prospective students by sending contact information and/or newspaper clippings about students in your area

In doing so, you can reconnect with your alma mater in a meaningful and significant way. Through personal involvement and enthusiasm, alumni can attract many students to the university. Our goals for this year are to expand Augusta State's presence in Atlanta and across the State of Georgia. While our hope is to increase the presence of ASU alumni at accepted student receptions, college fairs, and on-campus events, we recognize that Alumni can give back in many different ways. Your involvement could have a tremendous impact on the lives of our prospective students. Just think you may be the reason a student chooses ASU!
