ANNUAL BBQ A SUCCESS

"It was the perfect end to a successful fundraising and friendraising campaign," says Jennifer Hilliard, ASU Alumna and BBQ Chair. "We had perfect weather, great food and entertainment, which all made this year's event even better."
"The BBQ is hosted by the Alumni Association but it wouldn't be a success without the help of other people, both on and off campus" says Wes Zamzow, Coordinator of Alumni Relations and Special Events.
While the pork was provided by Food Services and Sconyer's BBQ cooked all the sides, Tim Dobbs from ASU's physical plant and Katherine Sweeney, director of admissions and registrar used their lesser-known talents and grilled almost 400 pounds of chicken. Those who didn't get to the BBQ early might have missed the chicken, though. A crowd favorite, it was gone before 7 p.m.
Faculty and staff also showed their support by preparing homemade desserts for the event. Other groups also volunteered their help.
"The student ambassadors played a key role in this event," says Mr. Zamzow. "I am very proud of this year's ambassador board and their eagerness to work hard. They are maintaining their mission and they have represented the student body well."
The Ambassador board, an honorary student organization, provides avenues for student service to the Alumni board and serves as a medium for developing leadership abilities at ASU. Members helped with the set-up, entertainment, food service and clean-up of the event.
ASU also had help from several sponsors of the BBQ. Georgia Bank and Trust was this year's signature sponsor. Other sponsors included Keystone Homes, Liberty Mutual, and Fat Man's Forest. If you missed out on this year's bbq, mark your calendar for the first Friday in October next year.
