For ’79 alum Steve Adams’ family, Augusta State University is a tradition.

He and his wife of 37 years, Sandra, are both alums. So are three of his four children – and one of those, daughter Amber Zimmerman, also now works on campus and serves on the Alumni Association’s Board of Directors.

Undoubtedly, the university holds a lot of memories for the Adams’ family.

"One of my favorite memories from when I attended school there is going to concert performances of the Friends of Distinction and the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band with my then-girlfriend and now-wife, Sandra Clements Adams,” Mr. Adams says.

But his time at ASU wasn’t all concerts and fun, he says.

“Augusta College taught me a lot about things that, at the time, I thought were irrelevant,” he says. “However, I discovered later that a lot of the core curriculum helped me in various aspects of my life. Many of the courses that weren’t necessarily related to my major gave me a well-rounded education.”
