ASU Career Center.  Student Employment Administrator

  1. What is your favorite memory about ASU?
Without a doubt, my favorite memory is from when I worked in the Financial Aid Office as a student assistant.  We received the call from the President’s Office saying that we were no longer Augusta College.  Our name had changed to Augusta State University!  It was so exciting, though it took a few tries to answer our incoming calls correctly.  We were so used to saying “Augusta College Financial Aid Office!”

  2. What is your favorite restaurant?
Oh, it really just depends on my mood these days!  I really enjoy PF Chang’s.  It’s so different from most of the places in Augusta.

  3. Why are you involved with the Alumni Association?
I think my heart belongs to ASU.  I have been here since 1993.  I was never involved in any activities as an undergrad other than working on campus.  I felt like being involved with the Alumni Association was a way to give back, and I have enjoyed every minute!

  4. What is your favorite movie?
Being a true southern girl, I have to say that Gone With the Wind is my all time favorite.  This is followed closely by Remember the Titans.

  5. What did you learn at ASU that is most valuable to you today?
I learned that the words “bloom where you are planted” are absolutely words to live by.  I was “planted” at Augusta College in 1993 after I graduated from high school.  In high school, I had different plans for college, but circumstances brought me to here.  I embraced this change of plans reluctantly at first.  However, the years spent here as a student and employee helped me grow tremendously as a person.  Looking back, I wouldn’t have it any other way.

  6. What are current activities that you are involved in?
Between my family, a baby on the way, grad classes and the Alumni Board, I’m afraid I don’t have too much time for other activities.

  7. What is your favorite possession?
I am a picture fanatic, so I treasure all of my pictures.  But I would have to say that my favorite possession is my dad’s first wedding ring.  He gave it to me the day that I married my husband.  I can’t think of a more appropriate gift on your wedding day.

  8. What is your favorite vacation spot?
I am a beach girl all the way.  My family spent nearly every summer at Myrtle Beach growing up.  I love it there.  However, for a quick weekend getaway, send me to Charleston.  It’s awesome.

  9. What is your favorite Alumni Association event?
Without a doubt, my favorite event is the Alumni Barbecue.  It is a huge event, and I really enjoy helping to make it a success.  It’s also a lot of fun, because I always see someone there that I haven’t seen in ages.

  10. What is your favorite color?
    Purple, no doubt.

  11. Who is your closest friend from your college days at ASU?
My closest friend from my college days, I’m happy to say, is someone I am still friends with – Jennifer Hilliard.  We met when we both worked in the Financial Aid Office as students.  Now, we work together again on the Alumni Board.  Today, I consider her one of my very best friends.

  12. What professor had the biggest impact on you at ASU, Why?
The professor who had the biggest impact on me at ASU is Mary-Kathleen Blanchard.  As a French major, I took many classes from her.  She is the reason I fell in love with the French language.

  13. What is one goal you haven’t achieved yet that you are working on?
I am working on my Masters.  I started (again) this past Fall.  My husband and I found out in March that we are expecting our first child in November, so I will happily let that delay things a bit.  I am bound and determined to finish in the next couple of years or so though.
