Brooks A. Keel (BA – Biology ’78) was recently appointed Georgia Southern University’s president, beginning January 1.  He is currently vice chancellor for research and economic development and professor of biological sciences at Louisiana State University. 

Leslie Wilcher (BA – Sociology ’08) has returned to Augusta State University to obtain a Masters degree.

John T. Smith (BA – History ’82) has worked in the advertising business for Towsleys, Inc., since 1996.

Nathan A. Relken (BA – Communications ’00) was recently hired as Student Services Manager for online learning at Brigham Young University-Idaho.

Gayla B. Pierce (BA – Early Childhood Education ’87) received her Educational Specialist degree from Piedmont College last December.  She is currently the Science Curriculum Coordinator for Enota Multiple Intelligences Academy in Gainesville, Georgia.

Zonya L. Barfield (MED – Special Education ’98) is currently living in Jacksonville, FL.  She attends graduate school for Organizational Leadership and works part-time as a substitute teacher.  She has a 2-year-old daughter named Shawn Lee.

Janet L. Gardner (BBA – Accounting ’04) welcomed a baby girl, Jovie Beatrice, on June 27

Eli and Mary-Margaret Epps (MBA – ’05; BBA – Accounting ’03) welcomed a baby boy, Clayton Everett, on May 20.

Ednace A. Roberts (BBA – General Business ’69) received a Master of Divinity degree, followed by a Doctorate in Theology from Trinity Theological Seminary.  He has since retired and lives in Durham, NC.

Yadira V. Payne (BA – Spanish ’03) will have an exhibition of artwork in Reese Library Art Gallery from September through the end of November.  This collection reflects her interpretation of the historical and cultural dichotomy of the island of Puerto Rico.  A reception is currently being planned.

Kathleen O. Cartledge (BM – Music Education ’82) is currently attending the Master of Arts in Religion program at the Lutheran Theological Southern Seminary.

Garrett D. Weiss (MBA – ’08) is currently the manager of the Stormwater and Environmental Section of the Augusta-Richmond County Engineering Department.  He is engaged to Janet Huffman.

Eric S. Michenfelder (BBA – Marketing ’08) recently became engaged and started a new career with Northwestern Mutual.

Amber B. Howell (BBA – Management ’98) is married and has two children, Gracie, age 6, and Dalton, age 4.

Nathaniel L. Baker (BS – Mathematics ’05) and Amelia L. Baker (BA – English ’96) are married with a daughter, Zoe, age 6.
