Michelle Caruthers (BBA Marketing-2011) has been hired as a marketing assistant with EDTS in Augusta, a full-service technology consulting firm. Charles Johnson, EDTS CEO, had this to say about Michelle and two other recent hires, “We are constantly seeking to grow our team and enhance capabilities by hiring the best talent available, thereby advancing our mission of being the premier technology solutions provider in our markets. These new colleagues will play an important role in that strategy.”
Pat Homer (BA English-2004) delivered her paper "Mary Granger: The Unsung Hero of William Gilmore Simms's Historical Romance the Yemassee" at the William Gilmore Simms Conference at the University of South Carolina in Columbia on September 28.
Henrik Norlander (BBA Marketing-2011) has won his first pro golf title in late September at Olde Sycamore Golf Club in Charlotte, NC.
Summer Finley Bell (BBA Accounting-2006) had previously been noted as being among the “Top 10 in 10 Young Professionals to Watch,” a program developed in 2009 by the Augusta Metro Chamber of Commerce. Now Summer has also been named one of Georgia Trend Magazine’s “Top 40 Under 40.” The group of 40 individuals under 40 years of age consists of people who are making an impact on their professions, their communities or the state.
Tammy Strange Flakes (BBA Accounting-1995) was recently promoted to the position of Chief Financial Officer with the CSRA Economic Opportunity Authority Inc. She was previously the finance director for Augusta Regional Airport.
Lauren Elizabeth Caldwell and Willie Benjamin Dukes III (BBA Management-2009) were united in marriage September 29, 2012, at six o’clock in the evening. The ceremony was held at First United Methodist Church in Gastonia with the Reverend Doctor James R. Westmoreland officiating. A reception, hosted by the parents of the bride, was held at Gastonia Conference Center following the ceremony.
