The Mary S. Byrd Gallery of Art is currently calling for visual artist to submit proposals for the 2012-2013 exhibition year. The exhibition year generally consists of three visiting artist exhibits. Each exhibit is accompanied by an opening reception and artist talk.

The gallery welcomes group exhibits, installation and workshop demonstration proposals. Workshop ideas must be accompanied by an estimated budget.

The Mary S. Byrd Gallery of Art committee thoroughly reviews each proposal. The committee has the final decision on the selected artists for the exhibition year.

The gallery, which is located in Washington Hall, measures 22’ width x 37.5’ length. Artwork may not exceed 72” in any dimension or 50 lbs. in weight. Pieces must fit through a standard doorway.

The Mary S. Byrd Gallery of Art insures all artwork. Pieces must arrive ready for display (suitable framed and wired). The gallery asks that plexiglas be used for framing. Artist’s proposal should include an estimated shipping cost of the exhibition. Work must arrive in re-usable packaging, which will be returned at the completion of the exhibit. The gallery will then ship back the work using Fed Ex or similar carrier in the original packing boxes. The Mary S. Byrd Gallery covers exactly $300 round -trip shipping cost. This rate also applies to group shows.

* Resume
* Letter describing proposal
* 20 images (slides or on CD: 300 dpi for each image, and preferably, arranged as a Power Point presentation)
