CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. -- Augusta State fired its lowest round of the season and its lowest postseason round in school history Thursday morning in the first round of the NCAA East Regional hosted by the University of Tennessee-Chattanooga at Council Fire Golf Club.

The Jaguars, playing alongside UC-Irvine and SMU, posted an 11-under 273 under threatening skies and stand in second place in the three-day, 54-hole event, eight shots back of Georgia. SMU, Mississippi State and Middle Tennessee round out the top five. (More)

Gregory Advances In Qualifying

HILTON HEAD, S.C. -- Augusta State men’s golf coach Josh Gregory advanced to the U.S. Open Sectional Qualifying Monday afternoon when he carded an even-par 71 at Long Cove Club in Local Qualifying.

Gregory, who is wrapping up his sixth season as Director of Golf and head coach of the Jaguar men’s program, claimed one of eight available spots from a field of 114 participants. (More)

Virginia prep product inks with ASU men's basketball

AUGUSTA, Ga. -- Augusta State men's basketball head coach Dip Metress announced Friday that Virginia prep product Travis Keels has signed with the program and will join the Jaguars for the Fall, 2008 semester.

A 6-8, 175-pound forward, Keels averaged 13.7 points and 8.7 rebounds per game as a senior at L.C. Bird High School in Chesterfield, Va. Keels earned All-District, First Team honors and was also an All-Richmond Metro selection. He is the first signee for the 2008-09 Jaguar recruiting class. (More)

Augusta State’s Shannon Wilkerson was named to the 2008 Peach Belt Conference All-Conference squad, the conference office announced Wednesday.

A sophomore rightfielder from Dacula, Ga., Wilkerson enjoyed a tremendous season in 2008. He ranked among the Peach Belt Conference’s top 10 in nine offensive categories and paced the Jaguars in batting average (.380), slugging percentage (.718), hits (81), doubles (18), home runs (16), RBI (57) and stolen bases (14). Clayton State Tops ASU

SAVANNAH, Ga. --
The No. 11-ranked Clayton State women's tennis team overcame a 2-1 deficit in doubles to pick up a 5-2 victory over in the first round of the 2008 NCAA DII Mid-Atlantic Regional, earning the Lakers a berth in the region championship against host Armstrong Atlantic State on Friday.

The Lakers (20-4) won at No. 1 doubles behind Julia Chergova and Anna Redecsi, knocking off Augusta State's Fernanda Chiaparini and Nathalia Rodrigues, 8-4. (MORE)
