ASU volleyball rallies for 3-1 victory on Senior Night

AUGUSTA, Ga. - Augusta State rallied for a dramatic 3-1 victory on Senior Night over Peach Belt Conference rival USC Aiken Wednesday in Christenberry Fieldhouse.

The Jaguars improved to 22-10 overall and 9-5 in the conference, while USC Aiken dropped to 13-18 on the season and 5-8 in the PBC. ASU is only one win away from matching the most wins in school history, set in 1995. (More) (Photos)

AUGUSTA, Ga. - Augusta State shot 69 percent in the first half Wednesday night and cruised to an 84-53 exhibition victory over Aiken Tech in Christenberry Fieldhouse.

Jaguar newcomer Alex Smith paced the Jaguars with 18 points while Fred Brathwaite tallied 13 points and a game-high seven rebounds. Senior point guard Daniel Dixon booked 12 points and canned three 3-pointers and Caleb Brown came off the bench to add 10 points. (More) (Photos)

ASU Tabbed No. 10 By NABC
Jaguars only PBC squad to crack rankings

AUGUSTA, Ga. - The Augusta State men’s basketball program is ranked No. 10 in the nation, according to the NABC Coaches preseason national poll.

The national ranking is the second of the preseason for the Jaguars, who landed at No. 8 in the Division II Bulletin national poll last month.

The Jags were ranked as high as No. 3 in 2008-09 and finished the season ranked No. 4 in the country. (More)

Augusta State will play host to a unique doubleheader Wednesday night in Christenberry Fieldhouse when the Jaguar volleyball and men’s basketball programs are showcased.

The ASU volleyball squad, enjoying its winningest season since 1999 under first-year head coach Sharon Bonaventure, closes out its home schedule by hosting rival USC Aiken in a key Peach Belt Conference match beginning at 6:00 p.m. (More)

Lady Jags Sixth In Texas

AUSTIN, Texas --
Augusta State shot an 8-over 288 Tuesday in the third and final round of the Challenge at Onion Creek and finished in sixth place at Onion Creek Club.

The tournament closed out the Fall, 2009 schedule for the Lady Jaguars, who finished just a single stroke out of fifth place and only four shots back of third.

Freshman Natalie Wille (73-71-69) posted a 1-under 69 and senior Sarah Mooney (70-73-70) carded an even-par 70 to share 10th place at 3-over 213. (More)
