ASU kicks off season at Fighting Illini Invitational

AUGUSTA, Ga. -- Augusta State kicks off the 2010-11 season this weekend when the second-ranked Jaguars tee it up in the fifth annual Olympia Fields/Fighting Illini Invitational at Olympia Fields (Ill.) Country Club.

Live scoring will be available at www.aug.edu/athletics  as well as www.golfstat.com.  The three-day, 54-hole event begins Friday morning at 9:00 a.m. EDT. (More)

PEMBROKE, N.C. -- Augusta State opened its Peach Belt Conference schedule on the road Wednesday night, falling 3-1 to UNC Pembroke at the Jones Center.

UNCP outlasted the Jaguars 26-24 in the first set before ASU battled back with a 25-10 win in the second set. The Braves then rallied to clinch the match with 25-13 and 25-22 victories in sets three and four, respectively. (More)

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Augusta State finished seventh Sunday in the season-opening Wolverine Invitational at University of Michigan Golf Course.

With four new starters making their ASU debut this weekend, the Lady Jaguars opened the tourney with rounds of 303 and 305 Saturday for a 36-hole total of 40-over 608 and entered the final round in second place. On Sunday, ASU combined for a team total of 319. (More)

SAVANNAH, Ga. - Augusta State lost a pair of non-conference matches Saturday on the second day of the AASU Volleyball Pirate Classic on the campus of Armstrong Atlantic State University.

The Jaguars fell 3-2 (18-25, 25-23, 22-25, 25-23, 11-15) in a close match to Florida Southern to start the day off Saturday. Freshman setter Lisa Bartsch tallied 30 assists. (More)

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. - The Augusta State men’s and women’s cross country squads enjoyed a successful season opener Friday in a dual meet with Georgia College & State.

The Lady Jaguars took first place, while the ASU men’s squad, competing for the first time since 2001, finished runnerup to Savannah College of Art and Design by just three points.  (More)
