AWENDAW, S.C. -- Augusta State senior Scott Jamieson shot a final round, three-under 68 Tuesday and earned the first collegiate victory of his career at the inaugural The Hootie at Bulls Bay Intercollegiate outside of Charleston at Bulls Bay Golf Club. Jamieson won by five shots over Wake Forest’s Webb Simpson and was seven strokes clear of Kentucky’s John Holmes and Chan Song of Georgia Tech.

Jamieson nearly led the 14th-ranked Jaguars to a clean sweep of the tournament titles. ASU, which entered the final round trailing Kentucky by three shots, posted a two-over 286 Tuesday afternoon to pull even with the Wildcats at the end of regulation. UK then edged out ASU on the first hole of a sudden-death playoff, making two birdies and three pars to the Jags’ one birdie and four pars.

ASU owned a 12-shot lead after the first round on the strength of an eight-under 286 and was the only team in the field to post a sub-par round. Kentucky then bounced back with a second round of one-under 287 to take a three-shot advantage over the Jags.

ASU senior Kalle Edberg finished in a tie for 20th, despite a final-round 78, the first time this season Edberg’s score has not counted for the Jags. Senior Emmett Turner bounced back from a 75-78 start with a third round of two-under 69 and moved up into a tie for 28th. Sophomore Major Manning fashioned a two-over 73 and finished alone in 39th, while freshman Mike Keast, playing in his first event of the spring, tallied a five-over 76 and finished tied for 63rd.

ASU returns to action this weekend when it hosts the 27th edition of the Augusta State University Invitational presented by Administaff on Saturday and Sunday, April 2-3, at Forest Hills Golf Club.
