ASU Tennis Splits With Anderson College

Ana SkafarAugusta State earned a split in its trip to Anderson College Wednesday afternoon.  The women’s tennis team used four singles match and two doubles match victories to defeat the Lady Trojans 6-3.  The Anderson College men’s team pulled out a pair of victories at the top three singles spots on its way to a 6-3 victory over Augusta State Wednesday afternoon at the Max Grubbs Memorial Courts. The victory improves Anderson to 6-0, while the Jaguars drop to 3-8.

Leading 2-1 after doubles, the Trojans got a three-set victory at No. 2 by Karan Doctor and survived two 7-5 first sets at No. 1 (Gabor Boczonadi) and No. 3 (Sid Sudhakar) to pull out a pair of straight set victories.

In doubles action the Trojans took two of three matches. Doctor and Sudhakar pulled out a 9-7 victory at No. 1 doubles over Zia Hai and Guillaume Payment.  ASU won in its doubles No. 3 match as Raul Intriago and Jackson Hubert defeated James Fitzgerald and Charl Botha.
 

In women’s action Augusta State upped its record to 4-7 with its victory while Anderson falls to 1-7.  All five women’s single winners won in straight sets. 

Both teams return to action Saturday, March 8 as they face Limestone at 12:00 p.m. from the Newman Tennis Center in Augusta.
