ASU Falls in Peach Belt Conference Tennis Tournament

Fla. --Early morning matches in the Peach Belt Conference Tennis Tournament
finished with the favorites advancing. On the men’s side, Georgia College
& State posted a 5-2 win over Augusta State to send the Cougars packing
after their first-round loss. Augusta went 0-for-2 when its women were defeated
by Francis Marion 5-1. Columbus State joined FMU in the main draw with a 5-2 win
against USC Aiken.
The Lady Jags picked up their lone match win with an 8-3 victory by Ana Skafar and Patricia Lozano in doubles action against Maria Ava-Lallemant and Stefani Schaller. On the men's side, ASU picked up a singles victory, as Raul Intriago, who defeated Per Schartum-Hansen 6-3, 6-2. They also picked up a win in doubles action, as Zia Hai and Guillaume Payment defeated James Gorin and Kris Popovic 9-8.
The ASU women will play on Friday at 2:30 p.m., facing the winner of the USC Aiken/UNC Pembroke match, scheduled for 8 a.m. the same day.
