ASU Tennis Falls to Clayton State In Season Opener

Augusta, Ga. -- Augusta State women’s tennis team lost its first match of the spring season, losing to Clayton State 9-0 Saturday afternoon at the Newman Tennis Center.  The loss brings their record to 0-1.  

Newcomer Ashley Abrams lost her opening match to E. Syrova 6-1, 6-0, while fellow Jaguar Patricia Lozano was defeated by N. Kovlechova 6-1, 6-1. Asu's Patricia Zurita, Norma Rovira and Patricia Lozano also suffered singles losses.

The Lady Jaguars return to action Wednesday, February 11^th at 2:00 p.m. as they face Georgia College & State from the Newman Tennis Center in Augusta. 

Women’s Singles

• J. Nieto (CSU) defeated Patricia Zurita (ASU) 6-0, 6-3

• N. Collantes (CSU) defeated Norma Rovira (ASU) 6-0, 6-3

• E. Syrova (CSU) defeated Ashley Abrams (ASU) 6-1, 6-0

• N. Koulechova (CSU) defeated Patricia Lozano (ASU) 6-1, 6-1

• K. Lennartsson (CSU) and D. Petkova (CSU) won by default

Doubles

• J. Nieto/K. Lennartsson defeated Zurita/Rovira 8-6

• N. Collantes/E. Syrova defeated Lozano/Abrams 8-1

• N. Koulechova/D. Petkova won by default
