Lady Jags Fall to Armstrong Atlantic

Augusta State dropped to 0-2 in Peach Belt Conference play, losing to Armstrong Atlantic State 9-0 Saturday afternoon at the Newman Tennis Center.   

#1 Patricia Zurita lost her opening match to Luisa Cowper 6-4, 6-2, while fellow Jaguar Norma Rovira was defeated by Dziyana Nazaruk 6-0, 6-1. Ashley Abrams and Patricia Lozano also suffered singles losses on the day.

The Lady Jaguars return to action Wednesday, February 11^th at 2:00 p.m. as they face Georgia College & State from the Newman Tennis Center in Augusta.

Women’s Singles

• Luisa Cowper (AASU) defeated Patricia Zurita (ASU) 6-4, 6-2

• Dziyana Nazaruk (AASU) defeated Norma Rovira (ASU) 6-0, 6-1

• Alejandra Aguilar (AASU) defeated Ashley Abrams (ASU) 6-0, 6-1

• Kristen Kelly (AASU) defeated Patricia Lozano (ASU) 6-1, 6-1

• Caroline Grage (AASU) and Laura Peaty (AASU) won by default

Doubles

• Zsofi Golopencza/Peaty defeated Zurita/Rovira 8-1

• Grage/Manuela Emmrich defeated Abrams/Lozano 8-0

• Nazaruk/Cowper won by default
