Tennis Defeats Longwood, 7-2

Va. -- The Augusta State women's tennis team defeated Longwood
University 7-2 in collegiate tennis action Saturday at Lancer Courts. The win
brings the Lady Jags' record to 3-3 on the season, while the Lady Lancers fall
to 0-1.
ASU won five singles matches and two doubles matches. In singles, Patricia Zurita, Norma Rovira, and Patricia Lozano each picked up wins in straight sets, while Ana Skafar and Ashley Abrams needed three sets. In doubles action, the #1 team of Skafar/Rovira defeated Romana Bocur/Nancy Hott 8-4, while the #3 Zurita/Abrams defeated Lexi Torrice and Cecilia Robinson, 8-4.
ASU travels to Pembroke, N.C. on Feb. 26 to face off against UNC Pembroke in Peach Belt Conference action. Match time is set for 2:30 p.m.
