Hicks Joins Athletics Staff
Former ASU student-athlete named to Media Relations post

AUGUSTA, Ga. -- Kayla Hicks has been named assistant media relations director at Augusta State, Athletic Media Relations Director Joey Warren announced Friday.

Hicks will assist in the day-to-day operations of the ASU media relations office while serving as the primary contact for the Jaguar volleyball and softball squads as well as the men’s and women’s tennis teams.

A native of Loganville, Ga., Hicks was a three-year starter and four-year letterwinner at third base for the Jaguar softball program. She played in 194 career games and made 192 career starts and was part of the winningest senior class in school history (141-79). She also helped lead the Jaguars to three NCAA Tournament appearances -- the first-ever trips to the regionals for the softball program -- and the first-ever, back-to-back, trips to the NCAA Regionals in school history during the 2009 and 2010 seasons.

Hicks is slated to complete her degree requirements at the conclusion of the Spring, 2011 semester and will earn her B.A. degree in Communications next May.
