AUGUSTA, Ga. - Augusta State head baseball
coach Chris Cooper announced this morning that today’s
non-conference game at West Georgia, scheduled for this
afternoon at 3:00 p.m., in Carrollton, Ga., has been
postponed due to forecasted inclement weather.
Cooper indicated the contest against the Braves and
former ASU head coach Skip Fite would be rescheduled at
a later date.

AUGUSTA, Ga. - Augusta State rallied from a
3-0 deficit to earn a split in Sunday’s doubleheader and
a split in the four-game, season-opening weekend series
with Carson-Newman at Lake Olmstead Stadium.
The Jaguars rallied for a 5-3 victory in game two after
the Eagles blanked ASU 8-0 in the first game. Trailing
3-0 in the bottom of the fifth of game two, ASU freshman
third baseman Cole Payne jacked a two-run homer to left.

AUGUSTA, Ga. - Augusta State and Carson-Newman
split a season-opening, non-conference doubleheader
Saturday at Lake Olmstead Stadium. The twinbill marked
the debut of the Jaguars under head coach Chris Cooper,
an ASU alum and former assistant coach.
The Jaguars took game one 10-3 behind a strong a
pitching effort from Wilson Taylor. A sophomore
righthander from Gray, Ga., Taylor held the Eagles
scoreless for the first three innings as the Jags jumped
ahead 6-0 with a six-run third inning.
