Valdosta State shut out Augusta State 12-0 Sunday
afternoon in the final game of a three-game series at Lake Olmstead
Stadium.
The Blazers (5-3-1) pounded out 16 hits off of four Jaguar pitchers. ASU freshman Patrick Lowe took the loss, falling to 1-1 on the season. He surrendered four hits and five runs in 2.2 innings.
Jeremy Forbus went seven innings for VSU to earn the win, giving up the only three hits by the Jags. He struck out six and walked two. Will Thompson allowed two hits and struck out four in the final two innings.
A two-run double by the Blazers' Shawn Keill sparked a five-run rally in the third inning. They plated two runs in the fifth and sixth innings and closed out the game in the ninth with another three runs.
The Jags return to action Tuesday, Feb. 19, when they host Anderson in a non-conference matchup. The first pitch is set for 2:00 p.m. at Jaguar Field adjacent to Christenberry Fieldhouse.
