AUGUSTA,
Ga. – Francis Marion dropped the Jaguars 27-9 Saturday afternoon in game one of a three game series at Jaguar Field.
The Patriots pounded out 29 hits off of five Jaguar pitchers. The Patriots picked up 15 runs in the first inning batting around the lineup twice.
The Jags battled in the third inning to pick up five runs with two RBI from Evan Smith followed by RBI from Michael Fritz, Shannon Wilkerson and David Barnes.
The Patriots picked up four more runs in the fourth with homeruns from Justin Greene and Jared Barkdoll.
The Jags plated two more runs in the bottom of the fourth with runs from Clay Haynes and Tony Baker to bring the score to 20-7.
ASU pulled out two more runs in the sixth inning to bring them to nine with runs from Alex Walker and another from Baker.
Francis Marion took the game 27-9 booking a total of eight homeruns. For the Patriots, Jared Barkdoll went 5-for-6 with two homeruns, while Josh Smith went 4-for-4 with four RBI and a homer.
For the Jags, Michael Fritz went 3-for-4 with a double while Haynes and Baker each had multiple hits.
David Walter took the win for the Patriots pitching 7.0 innings allowing nine hits with four strikeouts. Brandon Iverson received the loss.
The Jags are back in action tomorrow April 20 as they close out the three game series with a doubleheader against Francis Marion. Games are set to start at 12:30.
