ASU Falls To Bobcats
Jaguar freshman Alex Walker homers twice in loss

AUGUSTA, Ga. – Augusta State dropped to Georgia College and State, 14-4, Saturday afternoon in a Peach Belt Conference matchup.

The Bobcats jumped on the board first with an RBI from Richard Pirkle to drive in Derek Johns. The Jags answered back in the bottom of the second inning with a two-run homer from Alex Walker.

ASU picked up another run in the bottom of the third with an RBI from Bryson Smith to put the Jags up 3-1.

GCSU came back in the fourth with an explosive inning tallying six runs off of six hits with back to back doubles from Pirkle and Benton Yaun. The Bobcats tallied three more runs in the seventh off RBIs from Pete Paris, Derek Johns and Brooks Robinson.

ASU managed to pick up one more run in the eighth inning with a second home run from Walker to put the Jags at four. But that wasn’t enough to fight off the Bobcats who scored three more runs in the eighth to take the game 14-4.

Eric Pettepher (5-4) took the win, allowing four runs on 11 hits. Jacob Watson received the loss pitching 4.2 innings.

Augusta State returns to action to conclude regular season play Sunday with a doubleheader to close out the series with Georgia College and State. First game is set to start at 12:30 p.m. with an intermission between games to recognize the seniors.
