ASU Downs West Liberty, 23-1
Jaguars combine for 19 hits on the afternoon

BaseballAUGUSTA, Ga. - Augusta State combined for 19 hits on the day to top West Liberty 23-1 in a non-conference victory on Friday afternoon at Lake Olmstead Stadium.

With the win, the Jaguars improved to 7-12 overall, while the Hilltoppers dropped to 0-1 on the season.

For the Jags, Jacob Watson received the win and improved to 2-1 on the season. Watson gave up only one run one four hits and had nine strikeouts.

For West Liberty, Donny Platt was tagged with the loss and dropped to 0-1 overall. Platt gave up three earned runs and had three strikeouts in 5.1 innings of work.

Evan Smith led the Jags offensively with two hits on the afternoon and four RBI, while Carl Burrow, Kenny Smith and Alex Sickman each had two hits on the day with Burrow and Sickman having two RBI. Seven different Jags had a hit on the afternoon.

ASU is back in action on Thursday, March 11, when they host Anderson for a non-conference game at Lake Olmstead Stadium. First pitch is slated for 6:00 p.m.
