Anchors paces ASU offensively on the afternoon

BaseballANDERSON, S.C. - Augusta State topped Anderson 10-2 on Wednesday night in a non-conference game at Memorial Stadium in Anderson, S.C.

With the win, the Jaguars improved to 12-23 overall, while the Trojans dropped to 15-29 on the season.

The Jag combined for 16 hits on the night.

For the Jags, freshman Zach Braux earned the win and improved to 1-1 on the season. Braux lasting 5.0 innings and gave up only one earned run on three hits with four strikeouts.

Phillip Anchors led the Jags offensively going 3-for-5 with an RBI. Kenny Smith, Tristan Toorie, Casey Hanrahan and Tony Baker each had two hits on the day and two RBI each. Evan Smith and Caleb Saggus each had two hits, while Cole Payne had a hit.

Derek Hipp and Erick Sanderson each finished with two hits on the night, including a double for each.

ASU is back in action tomorrow when they travel to Gaffney, S.C., to take on Limestone in a non-conference game at 3:00 p.m. (Box)
