| ASU cross country team travels to Division II Championships |

Augusta State’s cross country team will be competing in the 2007 NCAA Division II South Region Cross Country Championships on Saturday, Nov. 3, at Sharon Johnston Park in New Market, Ala. The Jaguars are coming off of a runner-up finish in the Peach Belt Conference Championships, where Jenafer Forward, Kristyn Holley and Annie Kim all placed in the top 10.
The races begin at 9 a.m. with the women’s 6K, followed by the men’s 10K championship at 10 a.m. The top two teams in each race, as well as the top two individuals from each race, not a part of a qualifying team will advance to the Division II National Championships on Sat., Nov 3, in Joplin, Mo.
Harding won the 2006 event, with Florida Southern placing second, finishing ahead of West Florida and fourth-place Alabama-Huntsville. This season, three teams in the 32-member field are ranked in the Division II National poll.
The top team in the South, Tampa, is also ranked 15th in the national poll, Harding is No. 2 in the South and 20th in Division II. The rest of the women’s South Region top ten are (#4) Florida Southern, (#5) West Florida, (#6) Columbus State, (#7) Southern Arkansas, (#8) North Alabama, (#9) Arkansas Tech and (#10) Augusta State.
