Jaguar Duo Earns League Honor
Madgen, Brathwaite named to preseason all-conference squad

AUGUSTA, Ga. – The Peach Belt Conference announced its men’s basketball preseason All-Conference team on Friday, as selected by the league’s head coaches. Augusta State’s Ben Madgen and Fred Brathwaite were named to the team along with Georgia Southwestern’s Chris Rawls, Georgia College & State’s Graham Martin and Freddy Little of Montevallo.

Madgen returns for his senior season having been already named a preseason All-American by The Sporting News and the Division II Bulletin. A 6-4, 185-pound guard from Williamstown, Australia, Madgen ranks as the fourth-leading scorer in ASU history and fifth-leading scorer in PBC history with 1,670 points. He was named an All-American at the conclusion of his junior season by both Basketball Times and Daktronics. The league scoring champion at 19.1 ppg., Madgen also led the PBC in three-point percentage (.462) and was second in free throw percentage (.869)

Madgen’s teammate Fred Brathwaite also returns for his senior season at forward for the Jaguars. A PBC third-team all-conference selection as a junior, he ranked third on the team and 13th in the PBC in scoring at 13.4 ppg and was second on the squad and 14th in the league in rebounding (6.0 rpg.). In conference play, he averaged 13.7 ppg., shot 51.0 percent from the field and 77.3 percent from the free-throw line.

GSW’s Chris Rawls returns for his senior season after helping the Hurricanes reach their first PBC Tournament last year. A forward from Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., Rawls averaged 13.8 points and 7.5 rebounds per game. GCSU’s Graham Martin, a senior guard from Marietta, Ga., was second on the team in scoring at 11.8 ppg.

Freddy Little brings impressive credentials to the PBC as Montevallo begins its first year in the league after moving from the Gulf South Conference. A senior guard, Little was named First Team All-GSC a season ago. He led the Falcons in scoring last season at 15.7 ppg, and paced the conference in made three pointers with 75.
