AUGUSTA,
Ga. – Augusta State Athletics officials announced Friday a minor adjustment to next week’s volleyball and men’s basketball schedules.
On Wednesday, Nov. 4, the Jaguar Volleyball squad closes out its regular-season home schedule when it hosts USC Aiken in a key Peach Belt Conference matchup in Christenberry Fieldhouse at 6:00 p.m. The contest was originally slated for a 7:00 p.m., first serve.
The Jags, in their first year under head coach Sharon Bonaventure, are enjoying one of the top seasons in school history. ASU reached the 20-win mark for the first time since 1999 with Wednesday’s 3-2 victory at Lander in Greenwood, S.C. The Jags currently sit in third place in the PBC standings at 7-5 in the league and 20-10 overall.
At approximately 8:00 p.m., the ASU men’s basketball squad will take the floor for the first time in 2009-10 when the Jags take on Aiken Tech in an exhibition matchup. ASU cruised past the Knights 93-46 last season behind 22 points from Garret Siler.
During halftime of the men’s exhibition, the Jaguar Volleyball program’s three seniors will be recognized with a Senior Night ceremony. Jessica Howard, the school’s career leader in kills, along with Emily Joye and Lindsey Weider, will be honored for their contributions to the program.
ASU officials are aiming to set an unofficial PBC attendance record on Wednesday. Last season, ASU’s volleyball matchup with USC Aiken drew a crowd of 313 fans, the largest to witness a Jaguar volleyball match.
