Former Jaguar Inks Contract
Australian Dean Brebner signs professional deal with NBL's South Dragons

MELBOURNE, Australia -- Former Augusta State men's basketball standout Dean Brebner has signed a professional contract with the NBL's South Dragons, according to a recent announcement from the club.

A four-year letterman for the Jaguars from 2003-06, Brebner never missed a game in his four-year career. He played in 115 contests and made 47 starts, finishing his career with 616 points and 333 rebounds. As a senior, he posted career-high averages in scoring (9.1 ppg.), rebounding (4.8 rpg.), blocks (19), field goal percentage (.571), three-point field-goal percentage (.429) and free-throw percentage (.701).

Brebner, who is currently playing for the Geelong Supercats and competing in the SEABL finsals, signed as a small forward. As a developmental player, Brebner will suit-up at home games, and will train all season long with the Dragons.

"It was important to me that the development spots were provided to local Victorian basketballers, and I'm thrilled to see Dean in the Dragons jersey," said Dragons chairman Mark Cowan.

The Dragons were pleasantly surprised by Brebner, a lesser-touted recruit who has shone in the few weeks of Dragons preseason training.

"Dean's a very good athlete. He finishes off well going to the basket and has shown us he can knock down the open shot," added Dragons assistant coach Scott Ninnis. "He's a solid all round player, and has fit in well with our group - he makes a positive contribution on a daily basis."
